A Saturday in Paradise!

Not the literal paradise, but metaphorically pretty close, the all new MATTO at Paradise Beach has introduced La Festa – a Saturday beach brunch that’s sure to give a relaxing finish to your weekend.

Located at the gorgeous ParadiseBeach on PalmJumeirah (a stone’s throw from Rixos The Palm), MATTO runs this brunch for an incredible 5 hours from 12 – 5 pm allowing you to make the most of it’s food and drinks on offer, as well as giving you plenty of time to chill in the pool, take a swim at the beach, soak up the sun on the loungers, or dance to the DJ’s beats.

With so many reasons to try out this brunch, I don’t see why you wouldn’t already be booking yourself and your clan in for a Saturday. Tip: Go early to get a sunbed by the pool or sit by the beach if you like it quieter. Their pastas, burgers and bruschettas are to die for.

Friday brunches can often get too mainstream, which is why we prefer stepping in the brunch zone a little early with a Thursday night brunch. A perfect way to kick off the weekend, Garden at the JW Marriott Marquis runs the Latino Gusto Backyard brunch every Thursday evening from 7 pm to 1130 pm and we landed there a day before 14th February to have our own little pre-Valentine soiree.

Truly backyard style, their breezy terrace makes the perfect choice for Dubai’s outdoor season. Plus, it’s located on one of the higher floors, which means you can expect it to be comparatively cooler even during the summers (although based on the patio heaters they had placed all around during my visit, I am pretty sure they will be adding coolers in the summertime).

The brunch was divided into different elements which offered various drinks, ceviches, live taco station, food served to your table and lots and lots of churrasco! Right from serve your own margaritas and sangrias on tap, to a backyard bar that whips up classic Latino drinks, you should make sure you have your sober driver on speed dial. The ceviches featured a mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian variety, right from quinoa avocado salad to shrimps in a cone, tuna, calamari and more. The starters brought to our table included guac with tortilla, cheese rolls, empanadas and yuca fritters. Their taco station offered an option between beef, chicken and mushroom tacos on different tortillas, and you could load it up with your preferred sauces.

For the churrasco meats, we were instructed to place a card on our table that indicated on either side whether we were open to receiving more churrasco or if we were taking a break. How creative, no? Right from chicken and beef sausages to lamb chops and even grilled pineapple, the churrasco selection keeps coming in plenty. To go along with our meats, we were also presented with a chilli sauce that was freshly made at our table along with a black beans, corn on the cob and Mexican rice.

The buffet style desserts included a lovely chili chocolate fountain that paired brilliantly with their hot churros. But my ultimate favorite was their tres leches milk cake presented in tiny cocktail glasses (that I don’t remember how many I had).

With prices starting at AED 195, this brunch sure offers a lovely way to end the week at a beautiful spot in the city. I would definitely go back.

Night brunches are something I have come to love, especially if they’re on a Thursday and this one was just brilliant. When we visited it was really chilly, and the place will make a great option even in summers with a few coolers around. Love the spread and a special mention for their tres leches!

The word brunch brings forth all sorts of happy feels for me. And if the brunch is at some place gorgeous, then it’s undoubtedly an icing on the cake. Thank God for MATTO. Their Via Del Matto Brunch combines carbs and cocktails in a crazy Italian atmosphere making the Friday totally worth it. Very reminiscent of Italian streets, the 4 hour sit-down brunch comes in 3 sizes starting from AED 180 and the highlights include the starters sharing board, unlimited mini pizzas and fancy drinks. The brunch has a DJ playing the best tracks which fills up the air with a celebratory ambiance. Add to that their friendly and talented staff, who go out of their way to make your experience a memorable one.

We started our brunch with a couple of Aperol spritzers and paired it with the sharing starters. The board came with bresaola, bread sticks, quinoa shrimp, tomato bruschetta, caprese salad, grilled vegetables, lentil salad, mixed tomatoes and a cheese platter. We liked a few and loved a few, and thanks to the unlimited offer, we chose to re-order our faves which included the caprese, bruschetta , veggies and bread. Meanwhile it was time to try out the other drinks on offer and I chose a pomegranate bellini. Spacing out between dishes and giving enough time for our food to settle in, we decided to go for the mini pizzas – and we thought well they are mini, so instead of choosing a flavor or two, why not go with all five? And to our surprise, the not-so-mini pizzas arrived. The size of a small pizza that can easily fill up two people (along with all the other food), we had to really plan our pizza round in a way that we can try out each flavor, but also leave enough space for the mains and desserts. From the variety of margherita, tartufo, vegetariana, parmigiana, and diavola, without a doubt, the truffle one was my ultimate fav. In fact that’s the only one which I managed to eat more than one slice of. For mains, we went with beef tagliata and risotto porcini. I’ve always had a soft spot for mushroom based risottos, but the beef was so good, I honestly felt we should’ve ordered two portions of the tagliata! Finally it was time for desserts, and although we were obviously pretty full, we tried the tiramisu, creme brulee, pana cotta and Italian cake. The creme brulee with the berry top layer was really yum, and the tiramisu was pretty good too.

Prices:

A soft drinks package with food will cost you AED 180 per person
House bevs and food will set you back by AED 280 per person
Go all out with spirits, cocktails and premium drinks with food for AED 350 per person

If tipsy ice lollies, women dressed as Santa and oyster stations don’t mean party, then I don’t know what does. The Party Brunch at The Loft at Opera brings fun and food together in a celebratory ambience that’s sure to keep you swinging to their beats throughout the three hours on every Friday afternoon. Set up in the plush setting of Dubai Opera, this is definitely one where you ought to dress (to impress), but then again, who goes to Dubai Opera underdressed, am I right?

We were there last weekend, and were beyond amazed to see the variety of food and drink options available throughout the brunch from 1 pm to 4 pm. They’ve got everything you need and then some more. Salad and charcuterie station, different types of fondue, seafood, live grills, pasta in a cheese wheel, nitrogen ice cream, dessert trolley and so much more that I can’t possibly list down even if I wanted to.

But what I lovvvvveeeddd the most was their truffle and mushroom pizza. That was BLISS and if I had the chance to take away one thing from the brunch, it would be a 100 portions of that pizza.

Check out this gallery with all the pictures.

If you want to add a new brunch to your to-do list for 2020, then this Party Brunch is THE ONE!

Thanks Sociate for the invite.

Okay, it’s priced a little steep, but most good brunches in Dubai come at the same price, and this one really ticks all the boxes when it comes to ambience, food, drinks and desserts. Plus, it’s completely normal to indulge once in a while. We saw atleast a couple of tables celebrating birthdays and I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate mine, only I’ll have to wait another 11 months to do so. Prices start from AED 299 for the soft package, 499 for house and 799 for sparkling.

Sundays might not really be the best days of the week in this part of the world, because it’s the first working day of the week. But more often than not, we always find something to make it better. Like food. Especially food at Roda Al Bustan.

What’s the first thing that comes to your mind when you think of an Arabic theme night? Whatever you thought of will not even come close to describing the Mashawi Nights that take place every Sunday evening at Makan Restaurant in Roda Al Bustan.

Priced at AED 160 per person including soft drinks, Mashawi night promise an evening filled with nothing less than delicious food. They offer an incredible variety of made to order grills – both in meat and seafood options – alongside continental favorites, different cuts of meat, endless salads and a sweet selection of international and local desserts.

The grills and seafood options are all displayed uncooked, and you can simply pile up your plate with your favorites and ask the chefs to fire it up for you.

All this coupled with live music and warm hospitality makes this one of the best ways to start the week.

After a delayed flight and a sleepless night, I was almost going to cancel my dinner at this place. But I’m so so glad I didn’t. What I initally thought would be a run of the mill buffet turned out to be a true stunner. And at such an affordable price!

Highly recommend you book yourself in on one of the Sundays and try out the Mashawi Night.

So much variety at such an affordable price is what impressed me the most about the Mashawi Nights at Makan Restaurant. My favorites at the dinner were some of the salads, the fresh grilled shrimps, tikkas and kebabs, as well as the white chocolate brownie and mud pie.

There’s nothing more satisfying than a sumptuous Iftar at the end of a day long fast. While going to so many Iftars everyday has made it kind of difficult to differentiate one from the other, there’s always something unique that stands out in every restaurant. Entre Nous in Novotel World Trade Centre is one such place.

Fancy a traditional yet affordable iftar in the heart of the city? Then you should definitely try Entre Nous Restaurant at Novotel World Trade Center. Offering classic Arabic cuisine in a buffet setting, the iftar includes a selection of Ramadan drinks, delectable dates, healthy raw and cooked salads, a wide variety of continental mains and mouth-watering Arabic dishes, lamb ouzi, tempting Arabic sweets and scrumptious international desserts.

What I loved the most about this iftar was their fish, navratan korma and bread. Yes, their bread rolls were heavenly! Available from sunset until 11pm, this Iftar falls in line with perfectly traditional Arabian hospitality. It is priced at only AED 139 per person and includes food, water and Ramadan juices. Is it Ramadan already? Yes, almost. Ramadan in Dubai is the most wonderful month of the Islamic calendar, and of the year in general, no matter which part of the world you live in. While dining at lavish Iftar feasts is usually the talk of the town, there is much more to this holy month where Muslims around the world stay away from food and water from dawn to dusk.

ramadan listicle 2019

What Ramadan really offers is the opportunity to reflect on your sins, ask for forgiveness, practice tolerance and convey gratitude to your family and friends, while observing the month long fast to weed out everything negative from your life. Ramadan in Dubai is even more special. Proudly standing at the crossroad of global cultures, Dubai is one of the few cities in this world that creates a welcoming atmosphere for non-Muslims to follow Ramadan just like their Muslim friends and colleagues do. Whether it is observing fasts from sunrise to sunset, learning to pray, performing good deeds like distributing food to the poor, or even as little as refraining from eating, drinking or abusing in front of those who are fasting – people from different faiths love being a part of Ramadan in UAE.

Since we are referring to Dubai, there is one more thing that sets this city apart from the rest – Iftar! From quick AED 10 Iftar box meals to lavish Iftar buffets upward of AED 300, when it comes to breaking the fast, this city caters to every taste and pocket. So while we focus on the Holy aspects of the month that highlight religious observance, self-reflection, and refrain from everything bad and impure, we also can’t wait to start the fasting and feasting.

Just like every year, hotels and restaurants across UAE are all geared up to embark the Holy month by hosting Ramadan tents, Iftars and Suhoors in Dubai along with some great offers for spa and staycation for residents and tourists alike. What’s important to know is that these options cater to both Muslims and non-Muslims, locals and expats, and are completely in sync with the multitude of cultures that call Dubai their home. This guide will take you through a collection of best Iftars in Dubai and UAE. Read on to shortlist your favorites >

Ramadan is hardly a few days away, and like every year, Ramadan tents are making a grand comeback. Like the iconic Ewaan Ramadan Tent in Palace Downtown that serves up an exceptional variety of Iftar delicacies as well as Suhoor specialities in an uber elegant setting. Stretching into the Palace gardens, the tent reflects the distinctive architectural qualities of the destination itself, creating a unique sense of tradition.

We were invited for a media preview of the Iftar and here’s what we loved about it:

Generous selection of Middle Eastern and International dishes

Saying that the Ewaan Ramadan tent covers all varieties of food would be an understatement. Right from your favorite chicken biryani and lamb ouzi, to seafood and sushi station, salad bar, shawarma, grills, curries, and everything you could possibly think of, is on offer at the buffet. And the desserts are at a whole new level. With a never ending selection of sweet treats, your taste buds will thank you throughout the month.

Dates for every date

Don’t miss the towering pyramid of dates at the Ewaan Ramadan tent. Offering a variety of dates stuffed with different dry fruits, these will be perfect for breaking your fast.

Tanoura dance

As you enjoy your grub, you will be treated to an exciting performance by the Tanoura dancer who by the way, loves to interact with the diners through his dance form. Keep your cameras ready guys!

Ramadan drinks

You can never go wrong with the classic drinks in Ramadan. Including the likes of Laban, Tamer Hindi, Vimto and my all time favorite Qamar al din, these make the best options to hydrate yourself after the fast. Plus they go along great with all that food.

Traditional set up

There’s always something special about dining at Ramadan tents. The brilliance they bring in with their Middle Eastern atmosphere and (almost) Arabian nights vibe, makes the Iftar experience all the more special.

Indian theme nights just got a lot more interesting! Last Thursday, we were invited to a Desi extravaganza with the launch of Indian street food Bazaar at Palace Downtown. The first Indian theme night of its kind at Ewaam restaurant, it covers every aspect of Indian cuisine right from street food favorites like chaat and samosas to kebabs, curries and biryani, and of course, the endless selection of Indian desserts. Celebrating the various street food delicacies from around the cities of India, the restaurant is decked up with street style carts, lamps and arty pieces that embrace the spirit and taste of Indian cuisine.

Curated by Ewaan’s Executive Chef Avinash Mohan, the theme night offers lip-smacking street fare featuring over 50 delicious food dishes that you would love to indulge in. Located inside the gorgeous arabesque Palace Downtown Hotel that offers serene views of The Burj Lake, this Indian inspired gastronomical adventure is all set to kick start your weekends on a perfectly delicious note.

Let’s take a look at some mouthwatering pictures that will make you want Thursday to come in real real fast.

Welcome Drinks

We loved the choice of aam panna, lassi and roohafza for welcome drinks, and especially liked how they were meant to be served in matka glasses that make for a natural cooler

Chaat Station

This was a true delight! Offering everything from sev puri and papdi chaat to dahi wadas, this station came with a variety of condiments that allows you to pick and choose your favorite flavors to spice up (or sweeten) your chaat.

Pani Puri

The love of my life – Pani Puri – was served in petite shot glasses with sweet chutney or spicy water. They also have an option of boozy pani puri, so make sure you check it out if you’re a fan of that!

Snacks

The wada and samosa station was one we frequented too often along with the chaat cart. These fried goodies were the perfect compliment to the yogurt chaat and pani puri!

Mains

With a live outdoor barbeque and a selection of the same indoors, the grilled chicken, mutton and shrimps kebabs and tikkas were all done to a juicy tender perfection. The variety of main courses was simply magnificent. From curries to dal rice and my favorite Awadhi biryani, there was something to suit everyone’s tastes. The biryani is an absolute must have.

Desserts

The grand dessert display is not one to miss. Right from laddoo to barfi and kaju katri, along side classics like gulab jamun and halwa, the desserts are sure to tickle the taste buds of every sweet lover.

I found the matka kulfi just right to finish off my meal on a sweet note.

And we obviously couldn’t leave without a glass of cutting chai filled from the street style kettle and served with Parle G biscuits.

#RashidaReviews

A must visit for Indian food lovers, this theme night at Ewaan will satisfy all your cravings from Indian fare. It’s a great place to dine at with family and friends too. I loved the fact that along with Indian food they also have a sizeable selection of continental cuisine so no one goes back from the restaurant unhappy. My favorites from the theme night were the chaat station, biryani and cutting chai!
