]]>First of all, I’d like to say the packaging was brilliant. I’ve rarely seen food delivery so meticulously packed. And next coming to the food, everything I tried was done to perfection. I had asked for chicken and prawns only and they made sure everything met my expectations.
I especially loved the sushi variety they sent across – one with rock shrimp and the other with enoki tempura. The chicken dimsums were beautifully done and the basil chicken with rice was such a treat.
I highly recommend you guys try out mmmbox. They’ve got Thai options and desserts as well (which I’ll be ordering next time along with sushi).

Such good flavors, such good variety and such good packaging. I loved all the dishes from mmmbox. Definitely ordering their sushi again!

Some of my favorite things about Japanese food is sushi, edamame, tempura prawns, katsu curry and ramen. More or less, we tried almost everything at Tanuki, and more importantly loved it all too. I am definitely going back for their sushi and edamame. Or maybe I’ll just order it since they deliver as well!

]]>Flaunting uninterrupted views of the Bur Dubai area with a light peek at the famous Dubai skyline, Estrellas offers both open air as well as covered seating, making it perfect all year round. We obviously chose to sit outdoors to enjoy the short lived Dubai winter, but also made sure we were seated next to a patio heater so we could stay warm.
My plus one started with a grape mint sheesha (her favorite) and we chose to go with the cocktails recommended by the bartender. I tried a floral rose and peach drink flavored with kaffir lime, while my friend went with a fruity concoction of orange, pineapple and grapefruit served in a tiki glass. For starters, we opted for their nachos that were served baked with cheese in a skillet, topped with generous dollops of salsa, sour cream and guac + refried beans on the side. These were better eaten with hands. The next starter was Tandoori Chicken Momos, which as the name suggests, came filled with hot tandoori chicken stuffing with a spicy sauce on the side. I loved how tender, juicy, hot and spicy these were – all at the same time. Another starter which the chef insisted we try was Jalapeno cheese poppers. My friend is anti-jalapenos (she gives me all the jalapenos in the cinema), but surprisingly she loved these. The poppers came paired with potato wedges in a cone with ketchup and mayo dipping sauces on the side.
Since the starters were quite filling, we couldn’t really do justice to our mains, but still ended up trying at least one piece of each meat in our mixed grill which came with chicken pieces, fish tikka, grilled prawns, seekh kebab and lamb chops. My favorites in these were the seekh kebabs, fish tikka and prawns. For desserts we were quite surprised to receive two portions of the same dish. The date and toffee pudding was quite fair, but one portion would’ve definitely sufficed the two of us, and we would’ve rather tried something else for the second dessert.

]]>The post Moshi | Barsha appeared first on Rashida Blogs.
]]>I love how they put in so much effort and creativity into every plate, so much so, that the food looks too good to eat. We decided to make a quick visit to Moshi’s Barsha branch early this week, and left in awe of their classic creations. Read on to find out everything we tried and what my favorites are.
Since we were invited for a review, ours was a fixed Bloggers Menu that covered a bi variety of their offerings. We started with Dynamite Popcorn Shrimps, Dynamite Popcorn Mushrooms and edamame.
The shrimps have always always been my favorite, and these ones at Moshi were really well done. The mushrooms were a veggie friendly replica of the shrimps. The healthier edamame was a great munching option while we waited for our sushi rolls to arrive. I’ve tried edamame at a few places, and very few manage to get it right. I liked how the edamame at Moshi was steaming hot when it arrived and had a good dusting of spices to add to the moreish flavor of beans.
Our drinks arrived shortly after. I had picked a strawberry mojito, while my plus one went with the Oreo milkshake. I almost never have milkshakes while dining because I believe they are a meal in themselves, but this one was lighter than normal and felt quite refreshing. The mojito was perfect, but I missed the light bulb glass they had served this drink in during my previous review at the Oud Metha outlet, back in 2016!
In terms of maki rolls, we tried not 1 or 2 or 3 or even 4, but 5 different varieties. And each variety stood out with a distinct flavor. My favorite among these were the Cheesy Chips Oman Rolls. Right from the creamy cheese, to gritty rice to crunchy chips, these vegetarian rolls offer a burst of different textures in every bite. The Flamin’ Asparagus Cheetos had its own flavor twist, but I feel it could have been slightly spicier. The Volcano Maki and Dynamite Rolls were another delight featuring shrimps – the former topped with a spicy creamy sauce, and the latter with capelin roe. To end the soiree, we had the Emperor rolls which was fair in taste, but my least favorite option.
Since the name Moshi is made up of two components – Momos and Sushi, the next part of our meal had us trying 16 pieces of momos! Yes, 16 – which were divided into two pan fried and two steamed pieces of each – veggie mix momos, original chicken momos, cottage cheese and spinach momos and prawn momos. I lovveeeedd the veggie mix momos. Filled with potatoes and spices, they almost tasted like a samosa. The original chicken was quite good too. The paneer momos and prawn momos were fairly nice, but I felt the paneer to be a little out of place when it comes to the flavor balance.
The desserts at Moshi are presented in line with their primary offering, and very aptly named after the rolls. From the Lotus Overload and Nutella Maki that we tried, the nutella ones were my favorite, but the lotus ones were really comforting too.
Have you tried Moshi yet? Which is your favorite item from their menu?
#RashidaReviews
The sushi rolls at Moshi have always been a highlight of my visit to the restaurant. I love their creative fusion, and veggie options. I missed having their hot dog maki and chicken based rolls, but I will definitely be going back for those. I loved loved loved the cheesy chips oman rolls and dynamite shrimps.

We started with the classic lime and mint based Virgin Mojito along with Bora Bora – a blend of cranberry, pineapple and lime juices with a dash of Sprite
More American than Japanese, these hot bar bites were the right blend of crispy and cheesy. I loved the tamarind sauce dip.
This was my plus one’s choice. filled with crab and avocado along with cream cheese and salmon, it made a great combination. But it’s not one I would opt for.
Crunchy prawn, avocado and cucumber – this was more like me! My favorite for its prawn content, this is best dipped in the tonkatsu sauce it comes with.
Similar to the previous one, but with the addition of crab, this one was another favorite for me. Tempura prawns with mayo and avocado is a combination I cannot ignore.
This one was entirely for my plus one. The portions for both were quite generous in terms of their price and the number of options available make it really easy for everyone to try something they like.
The saucy chicken in this dish was simply brilliant. Paired with the white rice, it was quite a wholesome meal. The stir fried veggies made a great side. But i am not a big fan of miso soup, so I just stayed clear of it.
Definitely a must have after all that sushi. Both the flavors were really refreshing. The ginger had a nice tanginess to it, while the green tea was not at all bitter as I thought it would be.

What a brilliant selection of sushi! Sushi Sushi has everything a Japanese food lover could ask for. The variety of rolls and platters is simply amazing, and the hot dishes are plenty too. I loved the Prawn rolls and the Chicken Teppanyaki. Make sure you go with a big group of sushi lovers so you can try everything you want to!

]]>The post Sumo Sushi & Bento – more than just a sushi bar appeared first on Rashida Blogs.
]]>We tried Sumo Sushi & Bento located inside Town Centre Jumeirah and were fascinated by the very location of the outlet, right in the centre of the mall.
Read on to find out my favorites from everything we tried >
These little nuggets were made in a hand folded style and were seared to perfection. They came with a generous stuffing of chicken and the typical gyoza sauce on the side.
If you are a fan of dynamite shrimps and everything spicy, then these are a must. It had the perfectly juicy shrimps in bite sized pieces tempura fried to a crispy crunch and right the spicy mayo sauce coating them all. #RashidaRecommends
One of the main reasons I ordered this was that this sushi was only shrimp which made it so much better. I am not a big fan of fishy sushi rolls, so when I saw this on the menu, I knew it had to be on my table. These crunchy crazy rolls, as the name suggests, come with a prawn tempura and cucumber filling which is covered in sweet chilli and teriyaki sauce. It is almost like eating an Asian dish in the form of sushi. #RashidaRecommends
This one was for my plus one who is a big fan of sushi. More than the actual filling, it’s the lotus that tickled our fancy. Wrapped in salmon, these sushi rolls came with spicy mayo, avocado and cucumber filling along with a lovely lotus and garlic cream cheese garnish.
Well, when you go to a restaurant that specializes in sushi, you can’t feel content unless you’ve tried atleast three rolls from their variety. Which is why we thought of trying one more of these. Highly recommended by the server, this bestseller at Sumo Sushi & Bento comes with prawn tempura (again) as well as crabstick filling and a light garnish of salmon, avocado, cream cheese and spicy mayo. All in all, complete roll with every sushi element!
Recently I’ve had quite the palate for katsu curry. So much so, that I keep trying this dish every time I see it on the menu. And this time too, I knew I had to have it. The Katsu curry at Sumo Sushi & Bento had crispy breaded deep fried chicken cutlets served with the classic Japanese Katsu curry sauce along with a generous portion of white rice. A comforting meal at its best. #RashidaRecommends
This was something I was really looking forward to and well, I wasn’t disappointed one bit. What more could a chicken and shrimp lover like me ask for, than classic stir-fried rice filled with all the chicken and shrimp goodness. This was a big hit for me, and undoubtedly one of my faves! #RashidaRecommends
Let’s be honest here: I am not a fan of matcha. But since it was only fair to try out something that was a specialty at Sumo Sushi & Bento, I went for something that atleast had one element that I loved – the tiramisu. But trust me when I say this, the tiramisu was a class apart. All those creamy layers lightly flavored with matcha gave it a really refreshing taste, which I loved. And if I, being a matcha avoiding person, loved it, then I can’t even imagine how much you matcha lovers will!
This mocktail, with all its pomegranate and lemon goodness is a must have for the season. It definitely made the summer heat so much more bearable.

]]>Located in the stylish Emirates Financial Towers DIFC, this cosy restaurant imitates a simple Japanese interior, complete with a faux cherry blossom and wooden bench style seating. This fusion sushi bar is just right for a quick lunch or after work dinner. Read on to find out what we tried at Sushi Burrito
Wrapped up in seaweed with a layer of rice and all the sushi goodness within, this large burrito, almost equivalent to 8 pieces, is a must have for sushi lovers. I was impressed with the sheer quantity of veggies stuffed inside the roll. The prawns were without a doubt, perfect.
Highly recommended (do I even need a push for these?), these taste as good as the best dynamite shrimps in town and cost as little as AED 35. Isn’t that a steal? The dynamite sauce, the crunch of the shrimps, the size of each piece, and even the quantity, everything was perfect.
You definitely need to try these.
Since I don’t find many chicken options at a sushi restaurant, I decided to try the tempura chicken in a poke bowl. The sauce in this one was just brilliant. In fact, just like the burrito, this one too had tons of veggies which went really well with the sauce. The chicken pieces though, were the bomb. And I loved how they had included so much in this mix, right from jalapenos for a spicy flavor to cashew pieces for that crunch. All in all a 10/10 dish. I could have it any time of the day.
For drinks I tried Pina Colada & Raspberry Mint Iced Tea. The former was as creamy as I could have asked for. The coconut was just wow. The iced tea was incredibly refreshing. It had a little zing in every sip, which would be perfect on a hot summer afternoon.
#RashidaReviews
To be very honest, I am glad I visited this place. Although I am not a big fan of sushi, over the last couple of years, I have started including it in my diet and this place was welcoming. What I really liked at Sushi Burrito however, was not the actual sushi burrito, but the poke bowl. The Tempura Chicken Poke is a must have. It is definitely something that will take me back to this place.
And if you are a sushi lover, then well, go crazy with their sushi offerings!

]]>The post Vii Love Soul with Bass Mic at Vii Dubai appeared first on Rashida Blogs.
]]>We paired our evening with Vii’s signature crafted cocktails, delectable sushi selection and hot dishes. Read on to find out more.
What can make good music even better? Good drinks of course. For the Vii Soul night at Vii Dubai we started we these two concoctions highly recommended by our server. I really liked how he took time to inquire about our preferred flavors and the drinks he suggested were perfectly on point.
My date went with Jack Jam, which had Mr. Daniel’s muddled with blueberries, maple syrup and bitters, garnished with a slice of lemon and topped with blueberry jam. Quite a strong one that.
I kept it light with Seranade, a Cosmopolitan cousin, that brought together passion fruit and cranberry juices over a Grey Goose base. Very fruity and fresh, this was definitely in line with my taste.
One of the good things about Vii Dubai is their selection of sushi. And trust me, the list is so long, you will be spoilt for choice. We opted for two of these: Ebi Katsu & Baked Hotate Ebi with chicken.
The former featured beautifully fried prawns rolled with cucumber pieces and sesame seeds that gave a fresh crunch in every bite.
The latter had grilled chicken topped with shrimps, fish eggs and lots of cheese. This one was a mix up of flavors and I couldn’t really distinguish one element from another.
I have to say, the Ebi Katsu was my favorite of the two. Fried shrimps are always a winner with me.
The second round of drinks at Vii Dubai is what is like to call my version of going green. Gladly refreshing, both our choices were light and fruity.
The first one – Green Mist, was a sweet Malibu based cocktail with sweet flavors of pineapple and almond.
The second one – Basil Touch, came with a mix of basil, kiwi and sprite concoction over a Bacardi base, topped with lots of crushed ice.
The green hue of these drinks blended in perfectly with the secret garden vibes of the Vii Terrace.
One of my favorites at Vii Dubai were these Truffle Fries, and the other ones were Homemade BBQ Chicken Skewers.
While the fries exuded that beautiful truffle aroma and flavor we all love so much, especially during this truffle season, the chicken skewers were quite arty, thanks to the grilled spinach centre and parmesan sour cream dressing.
Which one would you pick as an accompaniment with your drinks?

]]>The post Sushi Steak & Seafood at DXB Grill appeared first on Rashida Blogs.
]]>A little over 9 months old, this restaurant prides itself with its creative menu that offers a choice of salads and soups, sushi rolls, tandoori items, and a myriad of poultry, steak and seafood cuts done your way. As a vegetarian, you might not like the variety, which is only limited soups, salads and a couple of paneer and potato staples, but the dessert selection is colorful enough to make you want to stay.
Read on to know more about everything we tried at DXB Grill, including one dish each from their 3-S menu – Sushi, Seafood & Steak.
Don’t you just love it when you receive something so pretty looking as soon as you arrive at a restaurant? Housed in a petite glass, thjs raspberry ginger concoction made for a refreshingly sweet and tangy welcome drink at DXB Grill.
There are restaurants that offer basic bread baskets to munch on while you wait for your food to arrive. And then there are restaurants who put so much effort into this pre-starter, it really makes you look forward to the rest of the dine. DXB Grill is one of the latter types.
Their basket brought together all types of crispy, crunchy, doughy breads, some of which were the best I’ve ever had. I am referring to their donut-styled cheese bread. Warm and fresh, this one’s got a lovely orange cheese swirl in the center, and it just melts in your mouth with every bite. Despite being a cheese bread, it didn’t feel heavy at all, which is why I ended up eating both the portions from this bread basket.
But it’s not just the breads that impress. The dips platter takes its own share of cake in making this pre-starter not one to pass. Pesto, Tomato, Olive tepanade and Olive oil make for the perfect bread accompaniments. Honestly, I loved this whole combination so much, I am really considering going back to DXB Grill just for these!
Can you guess what this is?
I wouldn’t have been able to guess either, had I not been told specifically by Chef Sumesh that this dish has a one-of-a-kind presentation. Which is also why this came in highly recommended by him as well as his staff. This gorgeous looking appetizer is an absolutely non-conventional version of the Caesar Salad.
Bringing together all the basics you expect from a Caesar, albeit in a contemporary fashion, the croutons in this salad are replaced with a big crispy bread bowl (almost like a puri), that’s filled with romaine coated in creamy Caesar dressing. Topping the bread bowl is a generous roll of parmesan, more Caesar dressing, micro greens, and (since we chose their seafood option) succulent pieces of grilled Gulf prawns.
It might look a little complicated at first, but eating this is quite a lot of fun – you break the bowl, let all the ingredients fall in, and give them a quick toss so the parmesan and prawns can mingle with everything else and enhance each bite of this beauty. This Caesar salad is one of DXB Grill’s signature dish, and rightly so, because honestly, it is one of the best salads I’ve had. You cannot go to this restaurant and not try their Caesar. Salad fan or not, you will love the presentation, creamy sauce, crispy bread – basically the whole package. And it comes in four different variants – plain veg, chicken, prawns or beef – so you are sure to find one that suits your palate.
I love soups. For one, they are warm, comforting and almost huggable. And two, ’tis the season for soups. With the temperatures dropping, soups are becoming more and more desirable. Which is why, after seeing that little ‘Signature’ icon next to this one on the menu, I couldn’t stop myself from ordering the Cheddar Cheese Chicken Soup at DXB Grill.
Beautifully enhanced with garlic confit and popcorn flavors, this creamy cheddar rich soup gently poured over the crispy chicken pieces pre-plated in the shallow dish. Almost like a meal in itself, this broth had everything you would expect from it – warmth, comfort and a heartfelt hug.
Remember when I said the DXB Grill menu specializes in 3S? This Sushi Island was the first of the trio.
DXB Grill’s got an interesting selection of Sushi that’s creative enough to cater to varied tastes. And even though the selection is not extensive, I wouldn’t mark them down on that, because for one, they are not an exclusively Sushi-based restaurant, and two, sometimes lesser options means better quality.
We tried two of their sushi rolls: California Maki and Ebi Ten Maki
While the former came with tender crabstick, avocado and cucumber, the latter was my favorite with shrimp tempura, cucumber and mayo. The Ebi Ten Maki is also one of their signature dishes, so it’s definitely worth a try.
DXB Grill also has classics like Nigiri combo with salmon shrimps & tuna, something hot in the form of Dynamite Maki for spicy sushi lovers, and a very surprising Vegetarian Maki for non-meat eaters! Which is your favorite Sushi? Tell me in the comments below
The next S on the menu at DXB Grill was Steak Frenzy. I’m usually a chicken lover, but this was probably the first time I ordered a steak and had it entirely by myself. It really was that good!
The medium well rib-eye weighing 280g, came along with buttered asparagus, truffle puree potatoes, roasted garlic and wild mushroom sauce. But that was just the combination I chose. You can select your preferred cut of meat, specify it’s doneness as per your taste, and customize it with your choice of side veggies, carbs and sauce the way your palate pleases.
Steak lovers, this place is a must visit for you. And non-steak lovers, don’t despair, for they have a similar rotisserie menu with poultry options as well as a seafood menu.
This was the third S and the most gorgeous looking dish from our dinner at DXB Grill.
My partner, despite being a big seafood lover, was slightly concerned about having to go through the “process” of eating a lobster. You know, the whole breaking and cutting bit. But Chef Sumesh assured us that the lobster can be customized as per our liking, and got us this beauty cooked thermidor style.
Creamy and cheesy just like a mousse, the lobster meat was cooked just right, and perfectly stuffed inside its shell. Garnished with pretty micro greens, it was served alongside buttered spinach, noisette potato cakes and a butter-lemon sauce. Just like with the steak, you can choose your preferred seafood – fish, prawns, lobster, scallops or mussels – from a variety of options. And you can pair them up with your favorite sides as you deem fit.
This one really took me back to my childhood. Which is one of the main reasons why this raspberry vanilla parfait was licked clean off the plate. Remember those raspberry sorbet ice lollies with a vanilla ice cream center? This was just like that, albeit much more classy.
Vanilla cream flavored almond sponge cake – which is also known as a joconde – was covered in a raspberry powered coating and placed over a raspberry coulis. This was topped with Chantilly cream and garnished with raspberry fruit pieces which gave it that perfect touch of finesse you expect from 5-star class desserts. Highly recommended, this dessert doesn’t feel heavy at all. In fact it leaves you with a sweet ending without much guilt.
