Last night we tried out Californian Cuisine at a new spot that’s designed to reflect the vibes of California. Bringing Cal feels to Dubai, FEL, which stands for feel earth love, features spotless white interiors, giving it that boutique feel, wooden hues, and cactus table accents to complete the overall look. A no-frills restaurant serving only the best of all-day breakfast, salads, sandwiches and mains, FEL offers some of the freshest, healthy and wholesome dishes I’ve had in Dubai.

""

What’s more, it’s vegan friendly too!

We started with a couple of refreshing drinks. I had the Classic Mojito which felt just right after stepping in from the humid streets. My plus one had Watermelon Agua Fresca which was simply out of this world. A brilliant version of classic watermelon juice, this felt like Californian summer in a glass.

Next, they got me at truffle. Funnily my plus one suggested Truffle Scrambled Eggs because he knows how much I love truffle and I’m glad we picked this. The eggs were very creamy, but it was really the truffle oil that enhanced the flavor and upped the aroma of this dish. I’ve not been a very big fan of sourdough toasts, simply because they’re too crusty for my liking, but I survived. The sliced avo on the side added a good balance of flavors.

The Spiced Chicken Bowl was the first dish the staff recommended and honestly I couldn’t have chosen any better. While the cajun spiced chicken was supposed to be the highlight of this dish, for me it was clearly the coconut rice on the side. So luscious, it only took one spoon for me to instantly blurt out that I’m coming back for the rice. I kept wondering what the rice would taste like with shrimps.

And clearly, Californians love avocado, since it was a major part of 2 out of 3 dishes that we ordered!

The Impossible Vegan Burger tasted like any other burger, and there’s no way we could tell it was vegan had we not known the name of the dish. Well my plus one didn’t, and he had absolutely no idea until I told him it was vegan. Very juicy with lots of toppings doused in tomato sauce, this burger was fairly easy to eat despite its towering height. I would order this again in a heartbeat. The wedges made the perfect side and everything on the plate was licked off clean.
