Last night we celebrated Thanksgiving with some really good fusion Chinese at Shanghai Chic in M\u00f6venpick Ibn Batuta Gate.\u00a0Shanghai Chic offers an Unlimited Tasting Night from Wednesday to Friday which is priced at AED 295 with soft drinks and AED 325 with house beverages.
\nThe concept of this tasting night is quite interesting. You can sample anything off the menu which is served in an individual portion, and if you like it, you can order it as many times as you want. Obviously, since we wanted to take in as many flavors as we could, we tried out most of the items from their menu while also ordering doubles of a couple of them.<\/p>\n

This was one of the dishes we ordered twice at the Unlimited Tasting Night in Shanghai Chic at M\u00f6venpick Ibn Batuta Gate.
\nThe hot and sour soup, as the name suggests offered the classic spicy flavor and was dotted with silken tofu.\u00a0Hot, both in terms of spice and temperature levels, this soup gave us a warm start.<\/p>\n

This crispy and crunchy looking starter is the Almond Chicken wrapped in bean curd skin threads and topped with togarashi mayo.
\nSlightly spicy, it offered\u00a0a good mix of textures with its crunchy exterior and delicate almond flavored meat.<\/p>\n

Nothing’s complete without some dynamite. These crispy Dynamite Chicken pieces were\u00a0also a part of the Asian Chic Appetizers at Shanghai Chic’s Unlimited Tasting Night.\u00a0Topped with crunchy sprouts and a spicy dynamite sauce, the bite sized pieces were\u00a0definitely worth a repeat. Only our portion size was massive so we stuck to one order.\u00a0Don’t miss the artistic serving plate, presenting the dish in a Morocco meets Shanghai style. Adds the Ibn Batuta touch to this Chinese fusion restaurant.<\/p>\n

We went all out with the Dim Sum Delicacies section at Shanghai Chic’s Unlimited Tasting Night. These prawn dumplings came\u00a0dressed as cute little fishes and pretty garnishes of soy, wasabi and spicy sauces on the plate.\u00a0Loved the detail on the faux fins and tails of this steamed variety.<\/p>\n

The next on the Dim Sum Delicacies list were the steamed shrimp and chicken siew mai dumplings.\u00a0Presented in the classic steamer basket, these had a melt in your mouth texture and went really well with the chilli sauce served at the start of our dinner.<\/p>\n

These Chicken BBQ buns could have had a little more chicken, but the bread was so fluffy and soft, it was perfect by itself.\u00a0These too were served in a steamer basket and had a mushy texture. The BBQ style chicken was slightly spicy. Just right for my taste buds.<\/p>\n

For the main courses at the Unlimited Tasting Night in Shanghai Chic, we indulged in chicken and prawns, and of course the very tempting Asian Chic egg fried rice. While my favorites were the wasabi prawns (obviously) and the spicy Szechwan chicken, my friend loved the Mongolian lamb and the fried rice.<\/p>\n

There is officially nothing better than wasabi prawns. Really.
\nPricked with skewers, these deliciously tender sea creatures were stacked over a watermelon piece and topped with spicy wasabi and dynamite sauces.\u00a0One bite into these, and you know nothing can be better. Ever.
\nGet them at Shanghai Chic. And if you opt for their Unlimited Tasting Night which runs from Wednesday to Friday, you can order as many portions of these as you like!! Perfect for shrimp lovers.<\/p>\n

This was my absolute favorite chicken main course from the Unlimited Tasting Night at Shanghai Chic. The Szechwan flavors spicy chicken pieces came fried with round red chillies – my all time favorite, and diced spring onions. So crunchy on the outside and so soft inside, these were irresistible.<\/p>\n

Crisp as a cracker and smooth as butter, the Mongolian crispy lamb brought the classic meat flavors in a unique blend of Mongolian spices. The dish was served in a rustic bowl topped with green chillies, onions and sesame seeds.<\/p>\n

What’s better than Portobello mushrooms topped with premium soy sauce? This crispy fungus at Shanghai Chic’s Unlimited Tasting Night was served over a bed of wild roquette soaked in soy.<\/p>\n

There was no stop to us eating chicken at the Unlimited Tasting Night in Shanghai Chic. Yet another poultry based main, this Marmite chicken was topped with nutty pistachios and garnished with sesame seed. And its presentation is yet another example of the perfect marriage between Moroccan art and Chinese flavors.<\/p>\n

This was one of the most creative fusion Tiramisu’s I’ve had. What looks like a waffle in this creamy dessert is actually mascarpone parfait served in an Asian-esque glass tea cup. Warm espresso was poured over the waffle for the classic tiramisu taste.
\nTitled Tira-Mi-Pele, this Italian Asian dessert brought\u00a0together the sweetness of condensed milk and nuttiness of peanut brittle with the creamy mascarpone and strong espresso flavors.\u00a0Definitely worth a try!<\/p>\n

I like how Shanghai Chic blended\u00a0the nut and crunch aspect of Asian cuisine in all their fusion dishes. This vanilla ice mousse started with a creamy vanilla base topped with sesame crunch and coffee caramel to give off a creamy-nutty texture in every spoonful.<\/p>\n
