Prax’s – The Tastiest Takeout in Town

It’s neither Chinese, nor Thai.
Redefining the concept of the classic “Chinese take out”, Prax’s serves the best in Asian fusion cuisine that takes your taste buds on a spicy ride, fuelled with fresh flavors, with little stop overs at aromatic stations, all the way to the destination of deliciousness.
Having seen and heard so much about the restaurant, we visited Prax’s outlet in Barsha Heights last night to find out what the craze behind these famous take out boxes really was. And I must say, we left as devotees of their wow food. Not to forget the exceptionally friendly service offered by their manager Andre, who not only made us feel welcome, but instead gave us the sense of being right at home with his wonderful stories, food suggestions and humble hospitality.

This was my first visit, but there are definitely many many more that will follow.

The concept of ordering food at Prax’s is really unique, at the same time really simple.
You can opt for one of their six signature dishes or play around a little with their Go Freestyle ordering sheet. With a choice of 5 carbs, 4 proteins, 8 sauces and a variety of fresh toppings and garnishes, Prax’s can offer you unlimited combinations so you can try something new every single time. And of course, there’s dim sums, spring rolls, salads and soups to start off with.

There’s something really fascinating about live cooking, especially when the wok turns into a blazing fire pit.
Check out the live cooking at Prax’s on my Insta-blog @truetotaste here!

The best part about their style of preparing food is that everything is pre-packaged in the right quantity in packets. Right from the noodles and rice to the meats, and even the sauces. So no matter what you order, you’ll get the perfect portion everytime. Moreover all their cooking is timed so no matter how many times you eat that spring roll, you won’t find it undercooked or burnt. It will always be perfect.

Everything at Prax’s comes packed in a box. And it couldn’t get any cuter than these spring rolls and dim sums.

We opted for the crunchy and juicy prawn spring rolls accompanied by a sweet chili sauce and the soft steamed chicken siu mai dim sums, paired with soy sauce and Prax’s chili paste.

There’s something calling sampling, and something else called indulging, and we were definitely onto the latter at Prax’s.
Andre made sure we had a bit of everything in the main courses we opted for and while we chose one red curry based chicken and rice, and one chili basil based chicken and noodles, he strongly recommended we also try their new kimchi sauce, assuring he’ll take care of all the toppings and garnishes.

Fried garlic? Yes please. And lots of it.
I love fried garlic and Andre kept that in mind while preparing this wonderful, spicy, aromatic Kimchi sauce with prawns and rice for me.
Based in egg fried rice with a generous mix of the spicy Kimchi sauce and dotted with juicy fresh prawns, this “go freestyle” selection from Prax’s menu also featured bamboo shoots, shiitake mushrooms and mixed peppers. And of course, it was garnished with lots of fried garlic.
I absolutely loved this dish. It was everything I like – prawns, spicy, mushrooms, peppers, garlic. Just perfect.
Go freestyle at Prax’s and create your own combination by choosing your favorite flavors, spice levels, toppings and more.

This Thai classic is so comforting, I could keep eating it all day. One of the signatures on Prax’s menu, this Red Curry is originally served with beef which I replaced with chicken. Warm jasmine rice, infused with coconut based red curry and enhanced with the fresh, crunchy and juicy elements of broccoli, snow peas, cherry tomatoes and lots of roasted peanuts makes this a complete meal for anyone who loves some good Thai food.

Crunch crunch crunch.
It has been long since I’ve had such good Chinese noodles. Also a ‘go freestyle’ dish, we chose egg noodles to start off with and moved on to a double helping of chicken with chili basil sauce. We took it to the next level by ticking off the hot box for a spicy treat.
I went crazy with the toppings on this one. Bok choy, cabbage, corn, mixed peppers, shiitake and more mushrooms – name it and I had it. And you can see how full that box is thanks to all the lovely goodness of these fresh and healthy toppings. And then it came to garnishes where I chose my beloved fried garlic and roasted peanuts for that crunch. Looks just delicious, doesn’t it?
Head over to Prax’s in Tecom or Jumeirah and you too can enjoy these wholesome, affordable, and undoubtedly tasty Asian dishes.

How could we leave without trying out something sweet. The desserts variety at peace is limited to two options, which means you can save all that time you spend on choosing the dessert and use that to thoroughly indulge in these delights.

Towards the top left is their classic creation of date and caramel which offers a sweet date flavors with the toffee taste of caramel.
The Coconut and Ginger dessert on the bottom right is inspired by Thai flavors and comes with a creamy dense base of coconut mousse topped with crumbled gingerbread and ginger shavings.

Despite of being completely stuffed, these desserts were just so irresistible, we ate them all!
