Have you been there to the Bean There Bistro?
How do you like the idea of reading your favorite book over a cup of warm coffee in a corner of a secret garden in Dubai. Well, not really a “garden”, but Bean There Bistro comes close. One of the most Instagram-worthy places in this city, this charming café, located in the Millennium Airport Hotel Garhoud brings across a sense of tranquility and calm, along with delicious fare. Exuding a unique warmth, what with its wooden accents, bench styled seating, earthy color tones of greens and browns – this place instantly makes you feel welcome. A hidden gem of sorts, Bean There Bistro is an ideal spot for hanging out with a group of friends, a quiet date, or some me time with your favorite book.
This picture shows the fresh green wall at the Bistro which has real plants hung all over it and lighting that dims and brightens up from time to time.
In the following blog post, we will look at some of the delectable small plates, mains, drinks and desserts offered at Bean There Bistro.
We started off with two refreshing drinks. Although these are not a part of their menu yet, we were at Bean There Bistro to try out everything they were proud of. The Strawberry Delight came with a fresh and sweet strawberry puree with tons of broken ice in a Daiquiri glass. The Sunrise, in the Mason jar, offered a tangy-citrusy mix of orange puree with lime.
They serve quite a good collection of fresh juices and cold coffees, frappes and milkshakes as well. What’s more, they are licensed and have some good offers for Happy Hours, so don’t write off your Margaritas and Mojitos just yet!
Buffalo Chicken Spring Rolls
Crunchy munchy goodness in every bite, the Buffalo Chicken Spring Rolls take your regular spring rolls up a notch. Filled with shredded buffalo spiced chicken covered in thin and light pastry, these fried appetizers are served in a portion of 4 pieces with a creamy blue cheese dressing. If you love chicken, these definitely need to be on your list when you visit Bean There Bistro.
Crab Cakes
I have a very complicated relationship with crab. Love it, hate it, sometimes I can’t stand it and sometimes I crave for it. These crab cakes at Bean There Bistro were definitely a surprise. Stuffed with fresh crab meat, these cakes were fried to a golden brown hue and a crispy texture. The meat had a hint of slight sweetness. Served along with arugula leaves and sun-dried tomato aioli, these came in a portion of 2 pieces.
Lasagna
You can never say no to Lasagna. Well, I can’t say no to a lot of things, and lasagna is one of them. Delicious layers of cheese, pasta sheets and mince mixed with Bolognese come together to create a hearty meal. This lasagna at Bean There Bistro has a special twist though. In addition to being topped with mozzarella cheese, it also has lots of parmesan.
Plus, it is spread with my favorite and the chef’s special pesto delight sauce – adding a little green color, which you wouldn’t really expect from this dish. And as far as taste is concerned, it is just wow – so delicious. The cheese melts in your mouth and the meat is so juicy! The bread pieces served alongside come flavored with basil and make a nice crispy accompaniment to the lasagna.
Lone Star Chili Pot
This Lone Star Chili Pot at Bean There Bistro was definitely a star of our dinner. Plated in a picturesque jar, it came with tender and juicy slow cooked minced beef, spiced with onions, chilies, tomatoes and garlic.
I really loved the corn bread accompaniment served with the chili. Freshly baked, these bread pieces were great to soak up all that chili goodness!
Crispy Half Chicken
Very country styled, this classic crispy half chicken takes you back to the humble days of enjoying simple yet delicious food. Hearty and so juicy, this chicken oozedn out a deliciously fragrant and light gravy in every bite.
The bird was so aptly placed over a bed of garlic mashed potatoes with a rustic ratatouille on the side, it felt as though we have been transported to a country side farm to sample their fresh produce. But the interiors of Bean There Bistro are quite close to nature anyway, so we were content.
Apple Delite
Happiness can sometimes be found in a jar. Really! Like this Apple Delite at Bean There Bistro. Lots of sautéed apples mixed with caramel sauce and flavored with cinnamom make the base of this creamy sweet dessert. The cinnamon adds a woody touch while the apples give the sweetness of caramel a slight tart. The best part, you have to agree is all that whipped cream loaded on top.
We ended the meal with a warm coffee. Because, why not? And how could we go to such a lovely place and not try out one of their bestselling coffees, right?
