Guy Fieri | Reel Cinemas Dubai Mall

Remember that time when we tried Guy Fieri’s Kitchen & Bar at Reel Cinemas in Jebel Ali? The same concept (sans the bar) has now opened doors inthe entertainment wing of Dubai Mall in the heart of Reel Cinemas.

We loved his food the last time around, so obviously, we couldn’t contain our excitement when we were asked to review the experience in full restaurant style without really worrying about which movie we should pick. While both the branches are open to non-movie goers, this brand new outlet at the Dubai Mall brings all that goodness much closer. It also makes a great pre or post movie dine-in spot, so all you “movie and dinner” date fans can rejoice! The restaurant is HUGE! Located on the second level of Reel Cinemas, it boasts a grand amount of seating space and can be accessed without purchasing a movie ticket.

Frozen Mocktail Bowlas

The Hole In One – Such a summery drink, this one was my first choice. The sweet and sour peach-mango-lime combination is something that impressed me the most. No points for guessing which one I ended up having.

Berry Me Alive – A very berry slush, this is a great choice for berry lovers. It had literally all the berries in the mix. And if that wasn’t enough, all of them made a garnish appearance too.

Toasted Coconut – Very creamy, like a coconut cloud, this was my favorite. I can totally see myself going back for just this drink.

Funny story: None of us ended drinking what we actually ordered for ourselves.

Trash Can Nachos

Who wants to eat out of a trash can? Nacho lovers at Guy Fieri’s Kitchen would certainly want to! There was nothing to not like and everything to love about these cinema favorites. A huge portion as expected, we were simply wowed by the sheer presentation and had to constantly remind ourselves not to fill up on these just yet because there was lots more coming up. These can be ordered without beef if you like. Tip: unless you prefer your nachos soggy instead of crispy, have them quick while they’re still hot.

Chicken Wings

Famously categorized under “Ain’t No Thing Butta Chicken Wing’, each of these pieces are brined, rubbed and roasted before frying and then tossed in your choice of one of Guy Fieri’s famous sauces – Sriracha, Buffalo or BBQ. We obviously wanted to try them all, so on special request, the staff got us a mixed platter. My favorite was a tie between sriracha and buffalo. I have never been a big fan of BBQ, but the chicken itself was absolutely tender. A must must try especially if you love chicken wings.

Southwest Sweet Corn

I usually love corn salads, so this was something I was excited about. Well, it came close to being good, but it wasn’t the best. While it had all the elements in terms of ingredients, textures and colors, it lacked a little bit in flavor. A dash of sriracha perhaps, or a dusting of salt and pepper would seal the deal for me.

Chicken Parm-eroni

Chicken Parmigiana meets bologna sauce! What else would you call a piece of perfectly crumb fried chicken placed over a bed of pepperoni sauce and topped with lots of cheese? I liked everything about this dish, but missed the actual round pepperoni slices. It would have been a pretty thing had the cheese been topped with the actual sliced pepperoni. On another note, it could have ended up as a parmigiana pepperoni pizza then.

Prime Time Wagyu Burger

To my relief this burger was not as huge as I was dreading it to be. A cheesy burst in every bite, the Wagyu was done to a juicy perfection, and the burger itself was just the right size – easy to hold without anything falling or dripping. The fries trio was totally wow. This burger in my opinion, is the ideal portion for one person if you’re skipping starters. it would also make a great choice for in-cinema dining.

Morgan’s Veggie Burger

Did you know Guy Fieri’s sister Morgan is vegan? This veggie burger is dedicated to her. This neither looked like, nor felt like a veggie burger, so it wouldn’t hurt for hardcore meat eaters to go clean for a change and add this to their list. The patty was quite crispy and hot when it was brought to our table and tasted fab with all those chickpea and bean textures. The portion of this one, just like the meat burger is good for one if you’re not ordering starters. However, this is slightly more likely to fall on your lap in the cinema, so maybe go in with a napkin, or keep it for the restaurant.

Cheesecake Challenge

After all that food, this dessert was definitely a challenge, which is why it came back home with us. The cheesecake had the classic NY style touch to it. But what I really liked about this dessert was the addition of salty snack toppings. Now what would’ve been even better is having a bowl full of pretzels and chips on the side so I could balance the sweet with salty while I’m working that challenge.
