Des Pardes | Pakistani Restaurant Review by Dubai Blogger Rashida

Des Pardes | Oud Metha

Have you ever passed by a restaurant, ignored it, and then finally walked in one day, only to realise you’d been missing out on sooo much before?! My stints to Oud Metha have gotten so much more fulfilling after discovering the hidden gem that is Des Pardes. You might have striked it out as a non-family friendly place, but that’s totally not the case. While it’s a regular among a lot of hardworking cabbies from the subcontinent, the restaurant has got proper partitions that make it highly suitable for families.

But that’s not it. There are so many more things about this place that make it such a must visit. The food is supremely affordable. I mean really really affordable. A (lipsmackingly good) chicken biryani will set you back by AED 13! Yeah, really! And if you’re into snacks then their samosas (which tbh look so so tempting) at AED 1.5 per piece are faaaaar from burning a hole in your pocket. In fact, be a sweetheart and buy them for your entire squad! What’s more, they are open 24 hours and offer delivery too. Read on to find out about all the things we tried.

We started with a portion of green salad and raita. This spicy raita is something you’ll get in all Pakistani restaurants, and it is brilliant. If you’re like me and love spicy raita, then you’ll definitely end up asking for a second portion. We munched on the greens while waiting for the food, and were soon presented with a myriad of flavors in the form of our starters and mains. The mixed grills included chicken and mutton seekh kababs along with a few pieces of tikkas and botis. I loved the seekh kebabs but the tikkas could’ve been slightly juicier. Our gravy dishes included boneless chicken handi and mutton bbq kadai. I loved the handi for that creamy texture. The kadai had a distinct bbq flavor and is a great one for bbq lovers. These gravies were paired with their special roghni naans and they were so good omg! Even if you’re not in the mood for heavy food, just pair the naan with a cup or karak and you’ll be happy you made that choice. Finally it was time for my all time favorite – chicken biryani. I mean how could I say no to it right? At just AED 13, this one was a total steal and that spicy flavor made it so so good. A definite must have! Alongside our mains we enjoyed a can of chilled Pakola. Yes, Des Pardes serves Pakola which I know for a fact a lot of people love, so drink up! And since we were so stuffed with the food, we decided to skip dessert and have a cup of karak instead. Great brew!

Highly affordable without compromising on the taste and flavors, Des Pardes is a must must visit. I am definitely going back for their samosas and chicken biryani. If you’re a fan of Pakistani breakfast, then they have specials like halwa puri on their menu too.
